It was a rainy week in Sydney and there are floods around the state. It felt like a dystopia a few days ago, so I’m glad the sun came out on the weekend.
In the shade it’s easier to remember to pray. Hopefully I remember to pray in the sunshine of life too.
Here’s some things I’ve been praying recently for people I know:
May they be strong in the Lord and know how loved and precious they are to God (and that I care about them too). They are ‘the apple of His eye’ (Psalm 17:8).
May they walk in the paths that God has planned for them, not turning to the right or to the left (Deuteronomy 5:32) but surging forward, with Him guiding their every step.
May they be ‘in step with the Spirit’ (Galatians 5:25) and that God will make their ‘forehead like flint’ (Ezekiel 3:9).
May they be listening to the Word of the Lord and know how to respond when they hear it (1 Samuel 15:22).
That God will heal them from anything that is causing illness or despair (Jeremiah 30:17).
Sometimes I don’t know what to pray for people. Unsurprisingly the Bible helps. I doubt it’s theologically sound, but I feel like God is more likely to enjoy hearing his word on repeat, than me saying the same things from my brain over and over again.
So, if you’re ever stuck for prayer points for someone, I recommend the Bible as your first port of call.
Which is why I’m praying all of the above for you, dear reader.
Yours with Bible-inspired prayers,
Alison
