What sweet release for Zechariah in this passage! He’s had his mouth shut for nine months (probably felt like years). Once he confirms that yes, it’s John – open sesame.

And what does Zechariah do now that speech is back again – praises God.

What an excellent response. #preach!

What a model Zechariah is for all believers at this point. No wonder people are filled with awe when they hear his story and see God has gone to work.

All the people realise that something special is going on and that John has been given an important task. And that God is with him.

One man set free. Another given a task.

And loads of people filled with awe at what God has done.

Regardless of whether you’re in the hill country or in the city, that’s good news.
