Yes, that’s right, it’s December! Which means it’s time for advent blogging.
I have to admit that if you were currently to play person association games with different months of the year and someone said “December”, I’d say, “Michael Bublé”.
I’m still working out if this is a good or a bad thing.
I’m personally a fan of the crooner and have already got my ticket to a concert next February. I have his Christmas album. I’m hoping he releases another one soon (triple disk next time, please Michael 🙂 ) and I personally love his attitude when it comes to Christmas.
He loves it. He claims he’s always loved it. I’m totally on the same page as him on that one. I’m also on the same page as some of his lyrics to do with December:
It’s that time of year I treasure
The time for giving, the best part of living
To celebrate with friends we hold so dear…
It’s almost here
So spread some cheer
Let’s give love, get some back
The more you give, the more you’ll have
A Christmas song all about giving love and kindness to others. It’s totally void of the materialistic hype that often surrounds Christmas.
Bublé has not missed the point. And whether he intends it to be or not (probably not), his lyrics are practically Biblical.
The apostle, Paul when he delivers an emotional farewell to the Church in Ephesus, says the following of his work among them:
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
Bublé’s practically quoting the Messiah himself… which funnily enough is who I probably should think of next time I play person association games with the month of December.
Love your work Michael. I’ll be listening to it all December. 🙂
Yours in giving,
Alison
