Today clocks over the halfway point of the forty days of Lent, which I find hard to believe. It also leaves me questioning what, if anything, I am learning through this season of Lent.
I think I’ve been reminded of lots of things, such as:
1. God never does the expected. He always has another twist and another turn up his sleeve.
As a human living in this world, I’m not good with that. As an English teacher, appreciating a master storyteller, I deal with it much better.
2. God has His own timeframe for His own reasons, which are far greater than ours.
If we knew all the things that God knew, then (not only would we go insane) we’d understand why He moved according to the pace that He does. We’d see the method in the madness (to repeat the comment from a Shakespearean angle).
3. God wants what is good for me, even when it doesn’t seem like it.
This is an easy one to churn out, but only a deluded fool thinks it’s easy.
I’m sure God is teaching me other things in this Lenten season, but as usual, 3 points is enough.
Ask any teacher.
Yours dot pointing it out,
Alison
